Finals week is upon us and Ropes is just around the corner! Manteam is excited for the adventure in Tanzania Africa which begins May 12, 2013.
My name is Seth Whitaker and I have the honor of being the Team Leader this summer. I am stoked to see what this year's trip has in store and how many lives will be changed during the process. I had the priviledge of going to Tanzania last summer as the Assistant Team Leader and had an awesome experience. We distributed 48,000 New Testament Swahili Bibles to unreached people groups in rural Tanzania. We hiked several miles daily to bring the Word of God to people who have never heard the Gospel.
We have worked with the same contact in Tanzania for some time now and will continue to work with him this summer. Our contact's name is Tori and he is a church planter. He has a very strategic plan for reaching the people of Tanzania. He usually does felt needs projects in order to establish buildings or roads for development purposes. This last year he needed our help in a different way. Instead of manual labor, we were assigned Bible distribution. We distributed NT Bibles everyday and traveled a ton. This summer, we will continue distributing the rest of the NT Swahili Bibles in even more remote and unreached areas. We will be traveling in the western Katavi region of Tanzania and spreading the Word of God as the inital contact for the church planters coming behind us.
We are very excited to be leaving in a little over a week. However, this is not going to be an easy trip. We will be sleeping on the ground in tents, filtering water, with no access to tiolets or hot water the entire time. We are bringing one bag for the month and packing as light as possible. If we become sick, we simply take the medicine we brought and wait it out. We would be very appreciative if you could join in prayer for our team's health and satefy while we are there. Also, pray for our contact Tori and his continued work in Tanzania. We want to assist him in whatever way possible and bless him in the short time we are there.
Thank you so much for reading and supporting our team. We will try to keep updates coming weekly, but due to the limited conditions we will be living in, that may not be possible. Thanks and God bless!
